Bedford Hills  Free Public Library,Bedford Hills New York

After a beautiful walk from the Katonah Village Library (about 45 minutes), I landed at the Bedford Hills Free Library, in Befrod Hills, NY. Such a warm and welcoming, adorable gem! of a library. Pristine built-in-shelving adorns the library walls; filled with books, books and more books. The small but very comfortable library utilizes the space beautifully. A unique layout with a narrow staircase leading to the upstairs to where you will find the most pleasant study refrence room with long roomy work desk/table and 6 sturdy chairs. There is a lovely seating area as well , visibly across the hall. Low ceilings and floors creeky in a wonderful way, the light flowing in in from all windows is so soothing.

Stone Avenue Branch Brooklyn, NY

Completely an awe inspiring public library from inside to out. Just coming around the corner seeing the facade of the library was unbelievable and  remarkable standing strong in castle like design. Walking in was equally as impressive to say the least completed in Arts and Crafts style. I was blown away with this bright, beautifully preserved blast from the past when buildings were constructed with only the best materials. This branch was originally built as a children's library, where the building was constructed to handle the lines of children waiting to take out books outside the building, and where candlelight story time was held around the  fireplace until the 1940"s which is still built around the original storybook tiles.  Dark woods adorn this expansive space from the wooden pews which have carved bunny rabbits on each arm rest , to the multiple vast encased windows filling every wall of the library allowing streams of light to fill the library.  The celing and walls are freshly painted and decorative with  with ornate moldings. Seperate seating area with many wonderful plush smart arm chairs with standing reading lamps elegantly await. One feels like they are are back in the wonderful past of the early immigrants who filled the streets of Brooklyn. A must visit!!!
